How to ask anonymous questions on Whisperly
An anonymous question can help you start a conversation without displaying your identity to the person you ask. In Whisperly, that choice sits alongside profiles, posts, stories, reels and private messages. Here is how to use the question feature and check your identity setting before sending.
Send your first question
- Open the person's profile. Choose Ask Question to open the question composer, where available.
- Write your question. Keep it clear and focused on one topic. Read it back before sending.
- Check Ask Anonymously. Turn this option on if you want to use anonymous mode for the question. Do not assume it is already selected.
- Review the recipient and text. Remove names or personal details that could identify you if you want to keep your identity out of the conversation.
- Use the send action in the composer. Respect the other person's choice about whether to answer.
Available actions can depend on your account, the recipient's settings and the app version. If the question action is unavailable or sending fails, contact Whisperly support with a description of the issue.
What does anonymous mean here?
Anonymous mode changes how your identity appears with the question to the recipient. It does not remove identifying details you write into the question yourself. A reference to a specific event, your school or your contact information can still give someone clues about who you are.
It also does not mean Whisperly operates without account data. The privacy policy explains the information processed to provide the service, including accounts, content and app activity.
Questions that are easy to answer
A good question gives the other person room to choose what to share. These examples work without asking for sensitive information:
- What is one song you keep coming back to?
- What inspired your latest post?
- What skill would you like to learn next?
- What small thing made your day better?
- Which book or film would you recommend, and why?
For creators, a specific question about something they have shared is often easier to respond to than a vague request to tell you everything about themselves. Keep follow-up questions respectful and do not repeatedly send the same request.
Anonymous questions and private messages are different
A question is a prompt for an answer. A private message is a way to continue a direct conversation. Choosing anonymous mode for a question does not mean every other interaction in your account is anonymous. Check the controls for each feature you use.
The Whisperly social and anonymous app guide explains how anonymous interaction, private conversations and profile sharing fit together.
Keep control of what you share
Avoid passwords, sign-in codes, addresses and other people's private details. If you receive unwanted content, use the app's reporting controls or the official support channels. Whisperly's rules apply to anonymous interactions too.
If you want to stop using the service, read the account deletion instructions. They cover deletion in the app and requests by email when you cannot sign in.
